At our practice, our focus is on providing a calm, positive and relaxed atmosphere for our patients. We want to avoid the things that can discourage patients from visiting the dentist and receiving the treatments that they need for their dental health and also their overall health.
However, we do understand that, for some patients, visits to the dentist can cause a great deal of stress. This is why we offer Sleep Dentistry as an option to help make things a little easier.
At our practice, the sleep dentistry option that we offer is General Anaesthesia. You can choose to sleep through your dental procedure at a private hospital using the latest in specialised technology and highly qualified staff.
You will typically be admitted as a day patient and able to go home within a couple of hours of your procedure.
Both adults and children can have dental procedures performed under general anaesthetic. We’ll make sure you are medically fit for anaesthesia with a consultation with an anaesthetist.
Most procedures can be carried out in this way, including
We will give you an estimate of cost at the time of consultation and you should consult your private health insurer regarding the rebate you will be entitled to.
Our clinic has over 40 years’ experience with dental treatment under general anaesthesia. Most treatments may be undertaken whilst patients are asleep. Usually our patients are treated in The Bays Hospital, Mornington as a day procedure and return home shortly after surgery. If patients have private hospital insurance the hospital accommodation and theatre fees maybe directly billed to the fund. Patients that feel embarrassed by their choice of this form of dentistry should be encouraged by the knowledge that each year our surgery treats more and more patients this way. The anaesthetics are administered by very senior and experienced anaesthetists working locally in the area.
